Rise – Voices From Standing Rock & The Music of Resistance

There are rare times in this world where we are presented with moments like this… A moment where we are given the golden opportunity to release the bond of apathy and take a stand for that which we believe in. Most of you who will read this post, are people I have met and have experienced first-hand your compassion and deep commitment to making this world a better place.

The inauguration is just around the corner. It is a unique moment to make our voice heard, which states we will no longer be complacent in the face of the blatant commodification of people and our planet. Luckily, we have seen people standing boldly on the front lines of change, blazing the way to make a clear path. And right now, we have the opportunity to support the truth tellers make their stand.

SoulFood CoffeeHouse and Fair Trade Emporiumhas opened their doors for American Activist Livestreams to host a benefit concert for Occupy Inauguration. The Occupy Inauguration movement has organized thousands of people to stand in defiance of the incoming political body. Like all effective movements, they are leveraging their platform to elevate the voices of those that we need to hear. In DC, musician and speakers will take to the stage to speak truth to power and I will be one of them.

The proceeds of Wednesday night’s benefit will go to support the Occupy Inauguration platform to elevate the voices of Standing Rock and others who tirelessly work for the integrity of our world. Please join us to light the fire of change and support this monumental voice of the people.
