Why do certain stories ride the wave across millennia of human history? What is it about myths that keep us washing them forward through civilizations and time? When we lose ourselves in legends, might we find ourselves in them, too?
Contemporary Seattle songsmith Scott Concinnity believes that ancient stories that have persisted into the modern world can be mirrors that show us who we are –and who we can be. His most recent series of soul, jazz, and rock influenced songs explore themes, scenes and characters from Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey. He is currently working in the studio to record them with his band, Letters From Traffic.
Join Scott along with his brothers in Letters From Traffic as he performs songs from ‘Fierce Waters,’ tells stories that weave ancient myths into our daily lives, and shares about the process of songwriting in an open discussion with audience members.
Scott has been performing for audiences for over three decades, including the past 12 years as the progenitor, primary writer, and frontman for the Seattle ‘new vintage soul’ group Letters From Traffic. His music and songwriting have been described as “bold,” “thought provoking,” and “musically intelligent.” His mission as an artist is to awaken humans to the radical breadth of the experience of joy, to evoke a sense of wonder in the world, and to inspire connection by inciting the motion of bodies & minds to sweet grooves & poetic lyrics
