Saint John

Sat May 20, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Saint John’s music career has gone from hitchhiking and performing in the streets of Europe to opening shows for national touring acts and recording with Peter Buck of R.E.M. From 2014-2016 he performed over 600 shows throughout the Pacific Northwest, had some songs played on local radio stations, endorsed a PA System from Mackie and was featured in Performer Magazine, was recently chosen to endorse Reunion Blues music gear, and isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Saint John was born in Victoria, BC, Canada and moved to California as a child. After graduating high school, he hitchhiked throughout Europe and started his music adventures by performing in the streets of Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, England, etc, drawing crowds ranging in size from zero (character building) to dozens (which drew the local police). He then made his home in Venice Beach CA, amongst the hippies, poets, the homeless, gangs, and the modern beatniks and gypsies, to write and self-produce his first two records, ‘Halo’ and ‘Mercy’.

Both albums were well-acclaimed, he formed a band, Saint John and the Revelations, and took the music on the road, performing relentlessly along the west coast of America from Southern California (Hotel Cafe, House Of Blues, Coach House, Genghis Cohen, etc) to the Pacific Northwest (Triple Door, Nectar Lounge, Hard Rock Cafe, etc). Saint John has opened for many national and international acts, including Colin Hay (Men At Work), Tom Morello (RATM, The Nightwatchman), Wang Chung, Naked Eyes, VAST, and many others, and has also performed in many local festivals, including Venicestock, Venice Beach Music Festival, Seattle Acoustic Festival, and Brodienation.

Saint John recently released an EP, ‘Welcome’, with some of his songs recorded with Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Bill Rieflin (R.E.M., KMFDM, Ministry, King Crimson), and Scott McCaughey (R.E.M., Fresh Young Fellows, Minus 5), and produced by Paul Fox (10,000 Maniacs, Wallflowers, Semisonic, Bjork).

He now lives in Seattle and performs 3-7 nights per week throughout the Pacific Northwest. He also very often performs accompanied by Phil Hirschi (Mahavishnu Orchestra) on cello, and with a full band including Oliver Dye on drums, Cory Cavazos playing bass and cello, and Mary Ann Miller singing. Their show schedule can be found here, come to a show and you’ll see and hear why they’ve connected to so many committed fans!
