Showcase for the Cure

Sun April 23, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Come join us for Showcase 2017, our annual musical event to aid in the fight against breast cancer. Working with SoulFood Coffeehouse, we have been able to create an event that is celebratory and reflective. This year’s lineup will again offer an eclectic group of talented artists.

Showcase welcomes Honey Mustard to our stage. This bluesy acoustic duo is a rare blend of Cody Rose’s tangy, wild, from-the-hip guitar playing and Erin Rae Murray’s raw, soulful, gut busting singing. Dripping with talent but playing straight forward songs, their no-frills original music hits you right in the chest. At points exciting and fun, at others, solemn and poignant, they cover the full spectrum of emotions and will move you deeply. Check them out at http://www.honeymustardmusic.com/.

Elizabeth Truman is gifted singer, songwriter, and educator. Her music is evocative and her voice is bell like. Showcase is fortunate to have such an amazing talent as part of the family.

Elizabeth is also the artistic director of the Drama Llamas of Pacific Northwest Montessori. These incredibly talented kids will be performing selections from “Pepe and the Cornfield Bandit – A Tale of Old Mexico”. The Drama Llamas are also a favorite, and are the perfect example of what happens when kids are introduced to the arts.

Showcase is again pleased to have acapella sensation and the 2016 PNW Harmony Sweepstakes Champions, Restless Vocal Band grace our stage. Selected in 2016 as the No. 2 Best Local Band Seattle A-List, Restless is a vocal powerhouse possessing the experience and versatility to entertain audiences with covers spanning decades and genres – from Bill Withers to Maroon 5, The Temptations to Michael Bublé, and more.

Combining over 100 years of music education and performance experience, their goal is to ensure you’re having as much fun listening as they are performing. Check out Restless Vocal Band on YouTube, you’re in for a treat – but they are much more fun live.

We are also happy to welcome the beautiful voice of Tricia Ung, and the musical direction of Zane McCune.

We are asking for a donation of $20 to enjoy this afternoon of music. All proceeds will be donated to Puget Sound Komen for the Cure. Komen Puget Sound is the local resource for women who need breast cancer screening, diagnostic and support services. Through annual events including the Race for the Cure as well as individual and corporate contributions, Komen Puget Sound raises funds that enable women to detect and survive breast cancer. Up to 70 percent of the Affiliate’s net income stays in their 16-county service area to fund breast health programs for women who would not otherwise have access to screening and treatment.

Join us for an inspirational celebration as we fight breast cancer through the power of music.
